Serving the local community

Making a difference in Lyme Regis and surrounding areas

The Rotary Club of Lyme Regis serves the local community in many ways, supporting local good causes and working with other organisations to help further their aims.

Supporting the young people of our town and surrounding areas is a major priority. We do this in a variety of ways. Each year we distribute the Usborne Illustrated Dictionary 4Life to Year 6 pupils in schools in Lyme Regis, Uplyme, Charmouth and Marshwood. We have also made donations to local school libraries and to the public libraries in both Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

In addition, we have supported local Scout groups in Charmouth and Lyme Regis, the Lyme Regis Majorettes and the Youth Club. We fund the summer reading project run by Lyme Regis Library and have made donations to the Sailing Club, the Memory Café and many other worthwhile local causes.

We also regularly have a presence at local fetes and assist with marshalling and collections at a number of events in the town. In Langmoor Gardens we maintain a small garden area where, with the help of local Scouts, we have planted many Purple4Polio crocuses. More recently we funded the planting of an oak tree to commemorate the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

However, this is by no means a one-way relationship. We are delighted that many organisations in the town respond to our calls for help when we run major community events such as the Lunge and Candles on the Cobb.

We are proud to be a truly integral part of life in our town.
